Hi,
This is for anyone wondering about fake Windstone Dragons. I recently purchased one for $6 at a salvation army type charity shop. For anyone interested the pictures included here show identifying features of a fake.
In the case of this one, where the gemstone is usually mounted on the forehead, one can see the gem shape has been rendered in the fake product, but there is no glass gem, just the shape of one that came out of the mold. It is however, covered with shiny sprinkles.
The eyes are painted instead of glass.
A visible seam-line runs up the back below the wings.
There is also no felt pad on the bottom.
There are also a few brush hairs trapped within the glaze or varnishing coat.
Otherwise the quality of the detail in the fake is excellent considering the mold for it was made from a genuine dragon. |
